Terms of service

The Written Advisory
Last updated: October 2026

1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service govern the provision of written career and business guidance by The Written Advisory.

By proceeding with an assignment, the client agrees to the service scope, price, payment arrangements and expected timescale confirmed in writing, together with these terms.

2. Services Offered

Our services may include:

● Detailed Career Guidance.

● Career Document Review.

● Business Idea Review.

● In-Depth Business Guidance.

The precise deliverables, boundaries and requirements of each assignment will be confirmed before the client commits.

We may introduce, amend, suspend or withdraw services as our business develops.

3. Enquiries and Acceptance

Submitting an enquiry does not automatically mean that we have accepted the assignment or entered into a contract.

We review enquiries to assess suitability, scope, required expertise, available capacity and any legal, ethical or safety concerns.

We may request additional information before deciding whether to proceed. We reserve the right to decline an enquiry that is unsuitable or outside our scope.

4. Pricing and Price Changes

Prices displayed on our website are indicative starting prices unless expressly stated otherwise.

Prices may increase or change over time to reflect the scope of work, complexity, time required, operating costs or changes to our services.

Before a client commits to an assignment, we will confirm the applicable price and agreed scope in writing. No change to the agreed price will be made without the client’s agreement, except where otherwise permitted by law or the agreed contract.

A new or revised price may apply to future enquiries and assignments. Existing agreed prices will not be changed retrospectively without agreement.

5. Payment

Payment arrangements will be confirmed when an assignment is accepted.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, work will begin after the agreed payment has been received and all information reasonably required to carry out the assignment has been provided.

We may use a third-party payment provider. Payments will be subject to any relevant provider terms and privacy information.

6. Delivery Timescales

Our usual target is to deliver written guidance within three working days after payment has been received and all required information has been supplied.

This is a target, not an automatic guarantee for every assignment. Some requests may require additional research, document review, clarification or more extensive analysis.

Where a longer timescale is reasonably necessary, we will explain the expected timescale before the client commits or agree a revised timescale with the client.

If we cannot complete an accepted assignment within the agreed arrangements, we will contact the client to discuss a reasonable solution, which may include an agreed revised deadline or a refund where appropriate.

7. Requests Outside Our Scope

If we determine that a request is beyond our expertise, capacity, permitted scope or ability to complete responsibly, we may decline it.

If payment has already been received and we decide not to proceed because the request falls outside our scope, we will refund the payment for the unprovided service in full.

If only part of an assignment can be completed, we will discuss the position with the client and agree an appropriate solution, taking account of work already completed and applicable consumer rights.

8. Cancellations and Refunds

If we decline an assignment before work begins, any payment received for that assignment will be refunded in full.

If a client wishes to cancel, they should contact us promptly. Any refund will be assessed in accordance with applicable law, the circumstances of the cancellation and any lawful cancellation terms agreed for the service.

Where a client is a consumer, statutory cancellation rights may apply to contracts made online or at a distance. Any request to begin work during a cancellation period, and any applicable consequences of cancellation, will be handled in accordance with the law.

Nothing in these terms removes any refund, cancellation or other right that a client has under applicable law.

Refunds will normally be made through the original payment method where reasonably possible.

9. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

● Provide accurate, relevant and sufficiently complete information.

● Ensure they have the right to share any documents or information submitted.

● Respond to reasonable requests for clarification.

● Use our guidance lawfully and responsibly.

● Treat communications respectfully.

We may pause work while awaiting essential information and may need to revise the delivery timescale accordingly.

10. Prohibited Requests and Zero-Tolerance Policy

We will not accept or undertake work intended to facilitate or support:

● Fraud, deception, forgery or other unlawful financial activity.

● Money laundering, terrorist financing or the concealment of criminal proceeds.

● Terrorism, terrorist organisations, recruitment, propaganda or operational support for terrorist activity.

● Violence, threats, exploitation, abuse or other unlawful harm to individuals.

● Conduct intended to endanger public safety or place individuals at risk of serious harm.

● Any other unlawful, seriously harmful or unethical activity that we reasonably determine is incompatible with our standards.

We may refuse, suspend or terminate an assignment where these concerns arise. Where payment has been made for work we decline and do not provide, refunds will be handled under the refund provisions above and applicable law.

We may also decline a request where its purpose is unclear and the concerns cannot reasonably be resolved through clarification.

11. Confidentiality

We will handle information supplied by clients with appropriate care and will use it for the purposes of assessing and delivering the agreed service, administering the relationship and meeting legal obligations.

Clients should not submit information belonging to another person unless they are authorised to do so.

Confidentiality is subject to applicable law. We may disclose information where legally required or where disclosure is otherwise lawfully justified.

Our handling of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

12. Intellectual Property and Use of Guidance

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, written guidance is prepared for the individual client and their own use.

Clients may use the guidance for their personal career decisions or for the business purpose covered by the assignment. They must not misrepresent our work as their own professional credentials, resell it as a standalone advisory product or reproduce it commercially without our written permission.

Clients remain responsible for ensuring that their use of any guidance or document complies with applicable law and third-party rights.

13. No Guaranteed Results

We do not guarantee any particular career, employment or business outcome. Our guidance supports decision-making but cannot control decisions made by employers, customers, investors, regulators or other third parties.

The Disclaimer on our website also applies to our services.

14. Changes to Services or Terms

We may update our services and these terms from time to time. The current version will be published on our website.

The terms applicable to an accepted assignment will be those agreed with the client, subject to any lawful changes agreed between the parties and any applicable statutory rights.

15. Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with a service, please contact us with a description of the issue. We will review the matter and seek to respond reasonably.

This process does not limit any rights you may have under applicable law.

16. Applicable Law

These terms are intended for a UK-based business. The applicable law and jurisdiction will depend on the circumstances of the contract and the client’s legal rights. Nothing in these terms deprives a consumer of mandatory protections that apply to them.
